In 2014, the first vase in SMAELTA's collection was designed - VAKO Water 260.
The starting point was to create something as ordinary as a vase for flowers.
The challenge was to use the glass to weave in a sense of the magical nature.
The inspiration for the design came from Småland's nature with its forests, lakes and meadows.
We wanted to stretch the properties of the glass and increase the visual expression.
Disturbing the mass of the glass with lines from the blow mold has a noticeable effect. It's called optics.
A sculptural form emerged where function and expression come together.
The lines in the glass symbolize the movement of the water and the ice.
The series was later developed into several sizes.
The name was taken from the beautiful bog outside Älmhult - Vakömyr.
